Carrot Cupcake

Hello Everybody, this time round I'm going to share my Carrot Cupcake.

Carrot cake is very common to find at the bakery shop out there but I notice not much bakery shop selling it like cupcake unless you go to those cupcake store but also not most of them selling it or I should say carrot cake most of the time will be sold in either a slice in triangle shape or a whole round of it.

So one day when I'm at home out of the blue I go online and search for Carrot cake recipe and try baking it but for the first try I already started to use the cupcake cup instead of the normal cake tray to bake it. At the same time I want to try something different.

Although I know some of the cupcake shop out there might sell it too but yet I still want to try it.

I didn't follow exactly the amount of ingredients for example for sugar if they stated 1cup I will normally cut it into half cup or I will cut a little depend on what I'm baking and what is the is the ingredients. But most of the time I will definitely cut in sugar because I don't like to eat to sweet. ( :

For my very first attempt in baking this carrot cupcake, turn out quite good and nice and I was so happy.

For the cream, I use Butter cream instead of cheese cream, you may choose to use cheese cream also this is on your person preference. During that time I choose to use butter cream is because my partner like to eat butter cream that's why I made with butter cream. Even up till today if somebody order from me or tell me they want carrot cupcake I will still use butter cream.

Recently my friend ordered some cupcake from me for her wedding and one of her choice is this carrot cupcake but I use a different and slightly smaller cup.

From the above 3 picture you can see the cupcake I used compare to the previous want is slightly smaller also at the same time you saw the other two design of cupcakes in the picture the want with the cute little flower on top is our Vanilla flavor with butter cream, 2nd want is our Carrot cake the want with the cute little carrot on top which I think is very obvious. Last but not least the want with the brown powder on top is our Banana cupcake ( the brown powder on top of the banana cake is walnut just that I make it into powder. )

Cambodia - Siam Reap

It's been long time since my last post. Now I'm back again. ( :

Remember my last post is about my 2nd staycation in SG at D'Kranji Farm ( you may refer to the link shown : http://linnes.blogspot.sg/2015_05_01_archive.html ) and my last adventure post is about my Nepal Trip in Kathmandu ( http://linnes.blogspot.sg/2014_10_01_archive.html ) for this time round I'm going to share about my experience in Cambodia ( Siam Reap ). 

Yes this time round I went to Cambodia - Siam Reap.
Is a different kind of experience from Nepal. First of all Nepal need a long flight distance where as Siam Reap only need 2 hour flight, is so much nearer compare to Kathmandu.
But there's something similar which is both people you met in this two different country is very friendly.

This time round I went for 6 days 5 nights and I think is more than enough to travel in Siam Reap.
For singaporean we do not need to apply for a tourist visa. How do I find out is upon our arrival at the airport we went to queue up at the tourist visa application counter and when it's our turn the staff over there at the counter told me that Singapore passport don't need to apply for tourist visa and that's how I find out. Once clear the custom we went to this counter outside the airport for taxi service to get a taxi to our hotel so as usual tell them where are you heading and they will tell you the price and pay them on the spot they don't charge by meter. This taxi we board, the driver is warm enough to welcome us and asked us where we want to go so we show him the map and his not to sure where is it because our hotel that we book is only a year old so not much driver know the exact location of the hotel so he make a call to the hotel to ask where is the exact or correct location.
Once we arrive our hotel before we alight the driver ask us if we're interested to let him be our 1 day driver for the next day or the next few days we're in siam reap and he will bring us to different places and temple and we agreed to let him drive us around for our next day tour. Where did he bring us too I will share more about it with all of you soon.

So as you can see the picture below that's the hotel entrance the hotel doesn't look like normal hotel in fate it like a resort in siam reap most of their hotel is resort style and is so beautiful. Even their airport design also look like resort.

When we're checking in the staff is nice enough to give us some welcome drinks and the room we book is not ready so she spend sometime to explain to us and show us some map and introduce us where we should visit in siam reap.

So about 45 mins later our room is ready and she show us the way to our room and even tell us where is the toilet , safe box etc etc

After setting down in the room we rest for awhile as usual before heading out. So around 4 or 5 plus in the evening we headed out for an early dinner at their night market and we took their locate tuktuk out. In Siam Reap, tuktuk is just like their 2nd transport that they use. It's so amazing that their tuktuk just a simple motorcycle and behind just hook a carriage for the passenger to sit and they can sit up till 4 person in the carriage. Don't you find it amazing just a simple vehicle but is helping the locate there to use to help them to earn income for leaving.

Our hotel provide free 3 times tuktuk service for those tourist that stay more than 3 nights. So during the very first day we already used up 1 time because we're going to the night market for dinner. So we just tell the tuktuk uncle which I name the uncle number 08 uncle because of the tuktuk number is 08 each tuktuk over there have their own number so you can easily remember them by the number. The uncle alighted us at this street call : ( PUB Street ) Pub Street is a street where there's a lot of restaurants that service food and beer, some even come with live band perform so basically is a street with lots of different type of pub and restaurants.

 went into one of the alley and decided to walk in and have a look at what food they have inside, from the picture above you can tell actually there's quite a number of restaurants and finally we have decided on one and sit down for our dinner.

So we order one of their famous dish in Cambodia which is : AH MOK  

Ah Mok is a type of Curry dish is Cambodia that's quite similar to Thai green curry.

Ah Mok is not spicy, not milky, not to thick, not to sweet or salty. In fact they cook with thicker coconut cream, lot of vegetables etc etc .. other then ah mok we did order another dish also the dish is a kind of fish soup with some coconut milk, white carrot in slice, lot of vegetables too.

After our dinner we when we have a walk around the night market in siam reap their night market is actually walking distance so from pub street you can walk to Art centre night market. Before that while I'm walking there on the way walking from pub street I saw them selling fried worms, spider all kind of insects and I was like omg I don't dare to eat it man..

Look at it.. All fried insects they sell. But I don't see much people buying it maybe few of their locate people? After that continue walking down to Art centre night market.

 

Art centre night market is where you can find a lot of craft for those people that like craft I will recommend them to go there. Not only that some of the store over there sell some t-shirt, pants etc etc too so you can find not only craft but clothing there too. But of cause for clothing wise I will still say Bangkok is better. Haha..

After few hour of shopping we decided to go back hotel and rest early because the next day we have to wake up very early in the morning for our out day tour at Angkor Wat Temple.

Staycation

Hello everybody, it has been a long time since I last updated my blog.

Now let's get back to the main subject : Staycation

I believe everyone of you out there always want to have a short break from your busy work life, pamper yourself, relax, distress etc etc etc.. But on the other hand some of you are not able to apply leave to get a way for a short trip, therefore we have a STAYCATION and that's what I did.

This is my second time doing a staycation, all thanks to my boy who plan this out for the both of us to spend sometime with each other. For this time round we had a different type of Staycation instead of staying hotel at sentosa or other hotel, we choose a Farm Resort at D'kranji which is located at Neo Tiew which is near Choa Chu Kang, by hearing the location some of you might be wondering where is that place and how do I get there and it would be kind of inconvenience for those that don't have your own transport. But not worry you can always take their shuttle bus to the farm.

For me I took a bike because my boy ride, so we ride there, mentioning of riding I have to say that was my very first time sitting on a motorbike and guess what SUPRISE me is I'm not afraid of sitting bike anymore in fact I like the feeling when I'm sitting on the bike when the bike is moving you feel the wind blowing at you that kind of feeling is so nice and relax.

Okay back to topic..

Once you arrive at the farm there will be 2 entrance one is for those that just go there to relax, have dinner or prawning and the other is for people that is going to stay in their resort. Is very easy to find the entrance for those that is going to check in because you will see a guardhouse yes a guardhouse where you get to check in and check out.

After you check in at the guardhouse the staff will pass you the key and tell you which unit that you will be staying. Just a turn from the guardhouse you will get to see all the unit of house or I should say resort in a row and you can go straight to the unit that they allocated for you. Picture below is how it look like after you turn in from the guardhouse.

Look like staying at landed right. haha.. A unit to yourself just like your own house. Hahaha..

We went to our allocated unit and you can see from picture below that's how it look like once you press the button and open the gate.

A Mini front garden to yourself, a mini parking lot where you can park 1 bike and 1 car.

Once you open up the door room you will see the bathroom, bed room and follow by the balcony.
The room may be small or cramp to some of you but to me I find it nice and cosy to stay for a night stay and is just nice for 2 person stay but for those family not to worry they have a family suit so you don't have to worry that the room is to small.

Do excuse for the messy pillow in the picture. But the bed is a queen size bed and is comfortable. So I find it not bad at all.

Next follow by the toilet,

Look at the picture of the toilet, is just like a mini garden outside and seem like you're showering outdoor among those trees and plants. The toilet is clean and nice as you can see in the picture it look nice in the morning but come to night time you can just look up to the sky and see stars.
Now last but not less the balcony, in the balcony there's a small table and two chairs where you can sit outside drinking a cup of tea in the morning facing the back yard.

or you can chill out at night in the balcony have a cup of wine or whatever drinks you like to drink enjoy and relax.

While staying over there not to worry that you will have nothing to do or just spending whole day staying indoor or so they do have some outdoor activities. Like : Fishing, Prawning, Mini Vegetables farm and you can rent Air-Wheel from them to go round the farm.

For me I choose prawning. Haha.. Because I kind of like prawning although some of you might think that is boring but prawning train your patient because you got to sit there and wait but once you caught it you will feel super happy and that's how I feel that's why I choose prawning BUT the only problem is whenever I caught it I don't dare to remove them from the hook.

Picture above show that I caught a prawn but was actually my boy that unhook for me and hold it and take a picture for me. Hahaha.. Normally we will just prawn for 1 hr and on that day in total we caught 8 prawns and I feel so happy about it.

After we caught 8 prawns in 1 hr for the first time we decided to BBQ it. Most prawning allow their customer to bbq and eat it after that and you can bbq it on your own no extra charge for that.

Look at those 8 prawns they are ready to be BBQ.

Awhile later the colour started to change which mean is going to be cooked and ready to be eaten up by us. Haha.

I still remember during that time while we're there bbq one of the family member there prawning looking at us bbq those prawns and they telling each other " after we catch those prawn we bbq it and eat it too " and while they're saying that I'm looking and smiling at them and they did the same thing smiling back at me.

Tadan look at the prawn is cooked and we are ready to eat it. Haha.. Look at the colour of the prawn is so fresh and it really taste super fresh unlike those you buy it from super market the taste it so different.

Next morning, once we woke up we went for our breakfast. Breakfast is included in the stay so you don't have to worry about it.

Look at this breakfast although is just a simple breakfast that you might think that you can prepare it at home. But when you're having your breakfast at home and during holiday or vacation your mood is definitely different. Just like I always think that simple is nice.  

After breakfast we went to the little vegetables farm to have a slow walk. Sorry didn't take any picture while I'm at the farm. After that at 1pm we have to check out and I start to miss the place. Overall is a nice place and good experience. If I have a chance to go back again I will definitely go back and stay for a night again.

Hopefully this post help or give some of you a little bit of help before you make a decision on staying a night at this farm.

喜气羊羊, 2015

Today is already the 11 days of Chinese New Year  let me share with all of you how do I celebrate my Chinese New Year this year. I guess more or less every year is the same but yet I still want to share some picture with all of you.

Like I mention nothing new is as usual went to Chinese temple to pray first then follow by visiting at my grandma house ( Ah Ma house ) where all my auntie, uncle and cousins will gather there.

Let's take a photo before we head out for praying and after praying we went for some tea break.

A picture with this two little cousin and they grow up so fast which mean I'm getting older. Hahaha..

Remember I mention all cousin will gather together during Chinese new year. The above is not all of the cousin is just a few of us. Can you people imagine it ? Hahaha.. Another thing we always do during Chinese New Year is that we will gather together and gamble. Yes gamble but only once in a year I believe most of the family will do that too during Chinese new year.

Baking Life ( Muffins )

Hello everyone, from today onward I have decided to post about my Baking Life. Yap I love to bake. Baking make me feel happy especially whenever I see those cake or cookies turn out well and nice and of cause when I share it with my family member and friends or even they share it with their friend or colleague seeing them enjoying eating it and like it but whenever they eat it I will definitely ask for their feedback whether is just a normal, simple or even a bad feed I'm still happy and willing to accept so that I can improve the next time round when I bake the same thing again. So I always tell them to be honest on how they think about things I bake.

I still remember the very first thing I try to bake is Muffins and the muffins don't really look nice at all and I myself can say that it taste a bit dry also.

see you know what I mean by don't look nice. Hahaha. But during that time when I see it I already feel happy about it because for the first time that I bake muffins goes well although I know there's a lot more to be improve. But at that point of time first attempt I find it not bad already. hahaha.
I even pack it nicely and share it with one of the auntie at my neighborhood Eco mini mart and she ate it and said is nice not that sweet, whether what she said is true a not I don't care cause at that moment I heard it i feel happy about it because somebody say they like it and is Blueberry Muffin.

But those muffins you seen on the above was my very first attempt of baking it. After so long lately I try baking muffin again with different flavor Chocolate chip, Blueberry, Strawberry and Vanilla with Almond Nuts on top and it turn out great this time round is so so much better than the first time I bake and is soften and nicer don't taste dry after eating it at all. 

I feel so much happier after the 2nd time baking muffins and seeing the improvement I have on baking muffins. The timing mixing everything together the texture etc etc..

This muffin have blueberry & strawberry in it. Cute ??? Haha

Look at the different the 2nd attempt muffin look so much better right that's how I feel and think but of cause not only what I think is important what others feedback is more important to me and this time round again I share with people around me and they share with people around them and Yes once again they say they like it. But of cause I never forget to ask for feedback again, I always like to ask for their feedback cause I find that it help me to improve on my baking too.

Actually muffins is not just to be eaten during breakfast or tea break snack to me muffins can be eaten at all time and anytime you like. So if you would like to get some muffins and try it do contact me and let me know ( :
